Mozart’s Requiem, left unfinished at the time of his death in1791, remains one of the most enigmatic and emotionally charged works in thehistory of music. Enveloped in myth and mystery, its allure has only deepenedover time.
The composition weaves together liturgical solemnity and theatrical immediacy, merging the traditions of Italian polyphony and operatic drama with Mozart’s unmistakable orchestral finesse and inventiveness. Its structure alternates between majestic choruses and austere fugues, and moments oflyrical, aching beauty.
Ultimately, the Requiem offers listeners a profound journey -from anguish to a glimmer of hope- expressed in a musical language that transcendsits sacred origins to speak directly to the human condition.
