To mark the 30th anniversary of I Barocchisti and the 90th anniversary of the RSI Choir, the two ensembles conducted by Lugano-based maestro Diego Fasolis – a leading exponent of historically informed performance – bring one of Joseph Haydn's masterpieces to the stage of the LAC: the oratorio La creazione del mondo (The Creation of the World), in the Italian version by Giuseppe Carpani.
An unmissable opportunity to hear one of the great pillars of Western music. The Creation (Die Schöpfung) was originally conceived by Haydn based on an English libretto, partly drawn from Milton's Paradise Lost. Shortly afterwards, Gottfried van Swieten produced a German translation, adapting it to the Viennese taste of the time. The text was translated into Italian in 1801 by Giuseppe Carpani and enjoyed considerable circulation in the 19th century. Performing The Creation in Italian today is not an arbitrary decision, but a way of bringing the work closer to its conceptual origins, emphasising its international vocation and Haydn's ability to create a universal musical language from “translated” and adapted texts. In the context of the LAC, which presents itself as a crossroads of cultures and languages, performing in Italian takes on a dual meaning: it is not only a question of making the text more understandable to the audience, but also of emphasising how the great works of music history are the result of influences, transitions and adaptations – not untouchable monuments, but living organisms.
The Association I Barocchisti issues the tickets for concerts at the Auditorio Stelio Molo independently, without relying on any external providers. For this reason, it is not possible to choose a seat, and the tickets issued are not numbered. Discounts are available for certain categories of spectators, as well as agreements with some local institutions (Conservatorio della Svizzera italiana, SUPSI).
Tickets are issued upon receipt of payment and sent via email.
On the evening of the concert, simply present a copy of the received ticket, either in digital or printed form, to gain access to the hall.
